IMPOSTER SYNDROME” is a fear of being exposed as a fraud or a feeling of not been good enough despite endless evidence that you are successful at what we do. You believe your success are not due to you but your failures are.
Imposter syndrome is a psychological patterns where you persistently feel inadequate, “not good enough”, ”feel like a fraud” regardless of what successes you have in life. You fear others that know you will call you out.
WHAT CAUSES IMPOSTER SYNDROME?
Limiting beliefs
Perfectionism: everything has to be perfect
Paralysis
Procrastination
People Pleaser
Constantly comparing yourself to others negatively
Your upbringing, you were constantly told you were not good enough
Fear
DO YOU HAVE IMPOSTER SYNDROME?
Do you feel inadequate despite endless evidence that you are successful at what you do
Do you attribute your successes to luck and to other people as opposed to your hard work and abilities
Do you overwork to continually try to prove your worth results in burn out, elevated stress and breakdowns
Are you not following your dreams because you believe you are not good enough
Do you believe you don't deserve your accomplishments
Are you constantly focusing on our shortfalls and downplaying your strengths.
Do you fear you do not belong in the role that you are in and someone will call you out.
Do you doubt our own abilities and feel you are not competent at what we do.
You constantly compare yourself to others and you feel inadequate in comparison.
HOW CAN YOU CLEAR IMPOSTER SYNDROME BLOCKS?
Seek support from a mentor
Feel the fear and do it anyway
Create an Alter Ego (fake it until you make it) (NLP techniques)
Challenge Your negative thought patterns, write them down, flip them, replace with positive affirmations and say them daily.
Ignore your triggers, take the emotion and thoughts out of whatever it is you really want to do and go straight to the action and result.
CONCLUSION
The decision to remove people from your life should be made with careful consideration and awareness of the potential consequences.
Try and surround yourself with supporting like-minded souls who support you and affirm your worth, your abilities, and play a crucial role in you overcoming imposter syndrome.
